In at the Deep End

In at the Deep End

Young farmer and father David Richardson was at work on his farm in 1960 when he was taken aback by the arrival of a green Jaguar, driven by television presenter Dick Joice. He was even more surprised when Dick asked him if he would attend for an audition to present a farming section on the new magazine programme About Anglia. Thus begins the book In at the Deep End - how a young farmer came to cultivate the media, as author David Richardson looks back over his life.

Anglia Television was just the beginning. He would go on to present for BBC television and radio, write for a variety of newspapers and magazines and finally return to ITV, all the while running and developing his own farm. His communication skills took him around Britain and around the world. In the video below David introduces the book and explains his first contact with Dick Joice of Anglia Television.
